چکیده

Let G be a simple, connected graph on n vertices. Let dG(u, v) denote the distance between vertices u and v in G. A subgraph H of G is isometric if dH(u, v) = dG(u, v) for every u, v ∈ V (H). We say that G is a distancepreserving graph if G contains at least one isometric subgraph of order k for every k, 1 ≤ k ≤ n. In this paper we construct regular distance-preserving graphs of all possible orders and degrees of regularity. By modifying the Havel-Hakimi algorithm, we are able to construct distance preserving graphs for certain other degree sequences as well. We include a discussion of some related conjectures which we have computationally verified for small values of n.

D-Spectrum and D-Energy of Complements of Iterated Line Graphs of Regular Graphs

The D-eigenvalues {µ1,…,µp} of a graph G are the eigenvalues of its distance matrix D and form its D-spectrum. The D-energy, ED(G) of G is given by ED (G) =∑i=1p |µi|. Two non cospectral graphs with respect to D are said to be D-equi energetic if they have the same D-energy. In this paper we show that if G is an r-regular graph on p vertices with 2r ≤ p - 1, then the complements of iterated lin...

Designing Distance-Preserving Fault-Tolerant Topologies

DESIGNING DISTANCE-PRESERVING FAULT-TOLERANT TOPOLOGIES By Sitarama Swamy Kocherlakota The objective of designing a fault-tolerant communication network (CN) is to maintain its functionality in the presence of failures. The approaches taken in designing fault-tolerant systems can be classified, in general, by the functionality criteria. There are two functionality criteria that have received mu...

On the number of maximum independent sets in Doob graphs

The Doob graph D(m,n) is a distance-regular graph with the same parameters as the Hamming graph H(2m+n, 4). The maximum independent sets in the Doob graphs are analogs of the distance-2 MDS codes in the Hamming graphs. We prove that the logarithm of the number of the maximum independent sets in D(m,n) grows as 2(1+o(1)). The main tool for the upper estimation is constructing an injective map fr...

Classification of a class of distance-regular graphs via completely regular codes

The study of P-polynomial association schemes, or distance-regular graphs, and their possible classification is one of the main topics of algebraic combinatorics. One way to approach the issue is through the parameters Pkij which characterize the scheme. The purpose of this paper is to deal with a concrete case. This case is also important in the study of the links between P-polynomial schemes ...

Distance-Balanced Closure of Some Graphs

In this paper we prove that any distance-balanced graph $G$ with $Delta(G)geq |V(G)|-3$ is regular. Also we define notion of distance-balanced closure of a graph and we find distance-balanced closures of trees $T$ with $Delta(T)geq |V(T)|-3$.
